Colorado Barricade crews installed a Rainbow Crosswalk at Broadway and Irvington Place in Denver. The installation of the Rainbow Crosswalk kicks off Pride Parade festivities with Mayor Hancock cutting the ribbon for the crosswalk on Friday, June 15th. Buffalo Exchange Colorado, the Baker Broadway Merchant Association and the Office of Councilman Jolon Clark raised more than $25,000 for the rainbow crosswalk. The project is a visual demonstration of the neighborhood’s spirit of inclusiveness and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. The crosswalk provides design elements that complement the community and assists in channeling pedestrians across the four busy Broadway lanes. Colorado Barricade’s work zone closed two of the four lanes to begin removing existing markings from the concrete at 7 pm Tuesday night with an enthusiastic crowd snapping pictures and enjoying the momentous occasion. GoPro cameras recorded the process in a time lapse video to be released in the coming days. The project was finished early Wednesday morning with all lanes of Broadway open for the busy morning rush hour. #coloradobarricade, #Denver, #crosswalks, #TrafficScapes
